Packing for a Month in Europe!

Hi people! Hope you’re all doing well. I’m personally living my best life in Germany at the moment. I love Munich! I had been here as a kid, but it’s fun to rediscover it after so many years.

As you might already know, I am currently on a study abroad trip across Europe. It’s a PR and advertising course, a tour of three different countries in three weeks. At the end of the program, I will also spend a few days in Italy before flying back to Chicago.

A question that I’ve been asked prior to my departure from the States was about packing. What are you packing? How much stuff are you bringing? How many pieces of luggage? Therefore, I’ve decided to write a blog post about the topic, since it seems to be such a popular one.

The following list tells you pretty much exactly what I packed for this month abroad. You also might want to consider that I packed for very different climates, and that I traveled in the summer. If you’re traveling in a different season, this might not be a good list for you! I packed according to the weather in my locations: Munich and Amsterdam can be either hot or cold in June and July, but they are most likely to be rainy at some point. Cannes is the total opposite, sunny and hot!

Tips

  • If you’re going somewhere beachy, you might want to pack two different towels, one for the beach and one for showering. I always forget about that and end up using a sandy towel on my way out of the shower. I hate that feeling!
  • Pack a compact duffle bag. It can seriously come in handy, and it’s just like taking an extra suitcase around! Well, minus the hassle. I have this duffle bag and I love it. I know I will be shopping a bit on my trip, and come back to the U.S. with lots of food in my suitcase, therefore an extra bag to check as carry on-luggage is a great asset.
  • Pack your small items such as passport, cash, tickets etc. in a small bag that you’ll be able to use on your trip!
  • Pack an extra set of clothes in your carry on. My roommate had the worst luck and the airline lost her bag, which she did not get back until three days into the program. Packing an extra outfit can save you in case that happens to you!
  • Finally, don’t stress about packing. My roommate’s experience taught me that whatever happens, whatever you forgot at home or lost on the way, you’ll figure it out. You really don’t need much stuff to “survive”, so please, view packing as something enjoyable. After all, that’s really the beginning of your trip!

That is all! So excited to share my next adventures with you guys! I am currently working on a post on Munich and one on Salzburg. Wifi is shitty but I’ll try my best to update you soon. Stay tuned!
